This is a great opportunity to learn some skills, get some fresh air and have a lot of fun. We are not going to require a large time commitment so the kids can play other sports like baseball in conjunction with our spring league.
We will have a few practices a couple weeks before the 1st game. The 1st game will be Sunday April 11, 2021. Once games begin, we will have 1 game on Sunday and 1 practice pre week. The season will be 6 games followed by a round robin playoff week.
Our spring league is going to be a fun recreational league so first timers and players with all levels of experience are welcome.
Ages 5-13 years old are welcomed.
There will be 3 age groups for teams
We will be following all CDC and state guidelines for COVID. Please bear with us throughout the season as guidelines change.
We are looking for coaches, assistant coaches, team moms and volunteers for the Spring Flag Football & Cheer season.

Since being established in 1970 the goal of Johnston Youth Football & Cheerleading is to provide a service to young athletes. This service will be geared to promote healthy activity and training under competent adult leadership, in an atmosphere of wholesome community participation. It will focus on football and cheerleading skills plus physical and sociological well-being. It will also include Teamwork, Sportsmanship, Discipline and Character.
The league would like to thank all the coaches. The league would not be what it is today without them including the time and hard work they put in for us. We would also like to thank the Mayor Joseph Polisena and his office, The Johnston Recreation Dept, the Johnston Police, The Johnston School Committee,The Blackstone Valley Football Conference and all the family, fans and friends who make it possible to succeed. These people and organizations volunteer their time because they want to, not because they have to and they deserve our appreciation.
Johnston Youth Football & Cheerleading is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and all the money brought into the league is spent for the boys and girls that participate in the league. The amount of money needed to run the league is substantial and any ideas pertaining to fundraising, sponsorship or donations are always welcome. Thanks to those who sponsored us and everyone that donated prizes for our banquet raffle and/or concessions.
Football and Cheerleading are both very demanding disciplines and require practice, dedication and the utmost in commitment. They are two sports that are both physically and mentally demanding and also include an inherent risk of injury. Every athlete’s parent or guardian will be asked to sign a form for insurance/medical purposes.
